About Semarang – The central government is conducting an in -depth study of the Regency/City Minimum Wage Regulation (UMK) in 2026.
This process is carried out through surveys in several regions, including 11 districts/cities in Central Java Province.
The Head of the Central Java Manpower and Transmigration Office (Disnakertrans), Ahmad Aziz, revealed that this survey was part of the review conducted by the Ministry of Manpower together with the National Economic Council.
“Now a survey in the provinces and districts/cities is being held. In Central Java, there are around 11 points surveyed,” said Ahmad Aziz, after accompanying Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi received an audience of the Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) in Central Java at the Central Java Governor’s Office, Tuesday (8/7/2025).
He hoped that the formula for the new formula related to the 2026 UMK could be completed in the next one to two months. The hope, this formulation does not only apply for 2026, but can also be used for the following years.
“This regulation will not be partial, but comprehensive. It can be accepted by all parties, guaranteeing certainty for the company and also protection for workers,” he said.
Meanwhile, Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi stressed the importance of maintaining a healthy industrial relations between the government, employers, and labor, especially related to the determination of minimum wages and sectoral wages.
“The minimum wage must be discussed openly, involving entrepreneurs and workers. Do not cause turmoil or cause the company to leave slowly,” said Lutfi.
He added, the Central Java Provincial Government continues to improve workers’ welfare, not only from the wage aspect, but also through the provision of supporting facilities such as daycare, lactation space, labor cooperatives, to health insurance, and transportation and housing support.
“Condusivity, security, and ease of licensing must be maintained, so that investors continue to be interested in entering Central Java,” he added.
The Chairman of the Central Java Apindo, Frans Kongi, stated his commitment to support the government’s steps in order to create a conducive investment climate.
